Billy is an overweight boy, growing up on a farm in the mid-1970s. He prefers culture to cows, and wants to grow up and "act the poof", although that ambition is admittedly vague for a 12-year-old. Billy keeps a heifer's tail as a "pretend" hair extension to mimic Judy from the TV show Lost in Space. His good friend is Lou, a girl who organises the schoolyard soccer and rugby at playtime. Perhaps there's something queer in the water around the remote farmlands of New Zealand's Central Otago. Full Summary
