The movie has several plot threads revolving around a sexy teenager who is obsessed with musical theater and his career in acting. The youth, his struggling family and his wealthier friends from private school and their families are all topics in this sprawling Egyptian style Robert Altman type film. The story explores two taboo love affairs: one between a Muslim man and a Jewish woman, and the other between a handsome Egyptian man and a young and pretty British soldier. The relationship was clouded with guilt (who said Jews and Catholics have cornered the market on guilt?) and misconceptions and doesn’t end well, but it happened. This entertaining drama is an important film, it’s an Arabic treatment of a very taboo subject. It’s also vastly entertaining and worth watching. Full Summary
